I have outlined my essay in a Google doc, which can be accessed by clicking here.
I thought it was kind of hard to write this because usually when I write an essay I figure out how to write it once I start actually writing. I usually don't write outlines but this was helpful in narrowing down what I wanted to talk about and how to best strengthen my argument.

For this reflection I read Alex's and Swati's blog posts. I thought Alex outlined a good essay and I especially liked how he talked about HOW he wanted to write his essay and what contributed to a strong essay in his opening paragraph. Obviously he may not want to include that in his actual essay but I thought it was a nice reflection. Swati did a very thorough job outlining her paper which will be especially useful once she starts writing her draft. I also think I can strengthen my analytical strategies more as well as narrowing in more on my body paragraphs.
I think doing your outline int google docs made it more organized. This makes it easier to read as well as organizes your ideas in the best way possible. I wish I would have thought of that. Your introduction is very strong and will be a great start to your essay. I like how you put ideas for each paragraph and know what you are going to say. That will make writing your actual essay much easier.
ReplyDeleteI certainly agree with Alex. The word processing features of Google Docs are one hell of a lot better than those in Blogger. I too used a similar structure where I had a bulleted list of the major parts that are necessary and then I elaborated on them. I found this activity to be really helpful! Good luck on your Project 2!
ReplyDeleteI agree with both Alex and Laurence. By doing it in a google doc, your outline comes off as more organized. It'll be rather easy for you to gather your thoughts in writing your draft. Apart form the organization, our outlines are pretty similar. We all went with the bulleted approach to clearly break up ideas. I am wanting to include more rhetorical strategy emphasis to my outline. Your outline looks great, and good luck on project 2!
ReplyDeleteYou did very good in getting to the main points of the body paragraphs. The only thing that I question is whether the argument should be your own opinion on the argument or arguing what rhetorical devices the author used best to help get their point across. It is more of an educational rhetorical analysis. But overall, very well organized and I feel that you will do well in your analysis!
