Calendar Reflection

Filling out the calendar was surprisingly nice. In college you have a lot more freedom which is reflected in the amount of free time I have now. I blocked things in large chunks because I like doing one thing at a time and finishing them, instead of starting multiple things and finishing them later. One reason why I didn't like the SAT was because they had you start a section, go to another section, and then come back to that section. The ACT was much more reflective of my studying style. I don't know if I'll be able to follow my calendar exactly, but I will try my best.

EDIT:
Reading through people's calendar reflections it was interesting to see how people budgeted their time compared to me. I don't have a job or anything write now so I have more free time compared to say, Hallye who has to work around her job schedule to complete her homework. Then there is Laurence who color coded his calendar and appears to be very organized with his time. Like me, he also realized how much time we have in college compared to high school. I'm thankful that I don't have the pressure of a job schedule anymore so I can be fully committed to my studies. I realized with the excess of time I have to make sure to actually budget my time carefully and commit to doing something within that allotted amount of time.

  1. The biggest thing I have discovered with college is all that free time. I think time management is key. I can relate to the sat and act as well. I only had to take the ACT and I am glad that was the case because although I did well on the ACT I don't think I would have done as well on the SAT. I too like to get things done and move onto the next rather than having multiple things going on at once. That is why I like how my classes are arranged. I get out early so I have time for homework then I can go to the gym and come back and finish up any work or start new work.

  2. I can totally relate to the ACT/SAT aspect. I took the SAT twice, and only needed to take the ACT once due to my success on it. It was simply more attuned to how I work. I couldn't quite relate to the free time aspect that you referred to until I realized I had completed most of my assignments and had no more classes for the day. I also like to do one thing all at once and then move on. I appreciate being able to relate to someone like this, and thank you for your blog. I'm also a fan of the picture.

  3. I completely understand the struggle of adjusting to college. It feels as if we have so much time but at the same time we really don't have that much time. It is through our calendars that we can truly see how much time we truly do have.
About the SAT/ACT, I personally liked the SAT more because I was just able to understand it more than the ACT. However, everyone's opinion is different and i completely resect yours.

  4. I completely get where you are coming from. Sometimes when I start an essay or a project I just have to get all of my ideas down and later come back and edit. The problem is that when I focus on one thing for too long I often get lost in the work and miss stupid mistakes that I could have caught on a fresher mind. Yes but in general I just didn't like the SAT. I am not very good at taking timed test. This was always a disadvantage when it came to shorter class periods and longer tests.
My budget has definitely limited my actions in college. I definitely have been eating in my room more often. This also helps me get more homework done since I am not too distracted with going out and getting food.
But I am excited for college and excited for a change. Who knows what ideas this new schedule will bring along.
